These are the words and thoughts of the Mighty Barbarian Fafnir and his band of followers as he made his way through Skyrim on his quest to become the High King. All entries in this Journal were translated from the original Journals by his hand. Only when necessary, have my own editorial comments been added, as noted by the notation “-Brook” and an italic font. I will try to keep them to a minimum, to keep the entries pure.

In memory of my great Friend and Master, Fafnir the Troubled King, I give you these chronicles.

Session 4/28

We were drawn into the City of Sanguine, Daedra Prince. He tried to take my bard, but I convinced him that he can have him as a champion, but he cannot control his Fate until I am the King. At that point I agreed to release the bard from my service. We then drank to seal the deal, my bard received an Axe shaped violin that will make him even more useful to my cause.

We then left this party city and returned to the Keep to question the General, Gaernar. The deal is:

1) No more than 4 troops may assemble at one time in the Whiterun area.
2) No reprisals for the attacks that have happened thus far by imperials.
3) The imperials will not build within the areas the map.
4) This keep will become ours.

Any deviation from these demands will be met with pain and death.

Fortifications have been completed.

Coin is used for Communication with other coins.

Chronicles of Fafnir, the Immortal

We began this session on the way to White Run, where we saw a large crowd gathering. When we investigated, we found that the Lair of the Great Bandit King Durnig was found. There was a great treasure (that was wrongfully confiscated by the Jarl) and amongst it were some letters from my Father to me! The Crier handed them over readily and we left to the Companion’s Hall to discuss it.

It happens that the letters talked about how the sword he wielded wouldn’t let him become the man he wanted to become, while it gave him everything he wanted. Or something like that. It made no sense until later.

We went to see the Jarl to get my Father’s things. When we met him, it took all my considerable strength not to kill him and just take his throne. What a pathetic little man. One day, I will take Dragon’s Reach from him and properly rule these people.

Pathetic little man.

Once I had informed him that I was here to take my Father’s things and his body, it was time to go claim them. I had to listen to him whine about me cleaning up the area and moving the war out of the area, and that was no small thing to endure. We were about to leave when one of the Jarl’s minions ran in and told us there was a fire in the lower areas of the Reach. We hastened along to find out what it was.

Turns out his Court Wizard can’t keep control of fire and the Jarl’s men were busily trying to put it out. A few more agonizing moments in the Jarl’s presence and we left with Father’s things. But not before some warnings from his Wizard.

Apparently, the writings were true. The Sword will grant the wielder’s greatest desire, while also bringing to him his worst nightmare. While I don’t believe a weapon can control a man’s destiny if he doesn’t want it, I must concede it gives me pause that my Father succumbed to it. Perhaps I will heed this Wizard’s advice. He can’t control his powers, but perhaps there is some wisdom in him still.

Huster was nearby, so I must also concede that when he is around, things happen in my favor in strange ways. It is good to have a wizard on my side, even if I can’t quite understand his ways. I do wish he would bathe, though. I will talk about it with him someday.

At the Companion Hall, the Companions were kind enough to allow me to honor my Father with a proper burial, with a high pyre and a solemn vigil. During the process, the Shaman talked to my Father’s spirit and revealed to me after that he had some unfinished business that he was never able to handle. He didn’t know what it was, but there was something. If I find out, I will make sure it is done. Count on that.

From here, we bought some things we needed and went off to kill some Giants. Now that Orthane has the soul stealing enchantment on it, we can fill these soul gems and get more enchantments that we will need to eventually take Whiterun from this wimp who rules it now. And then, begin the long climb to the Crown.

It was nightfall, which is prime Giant killing time. With the ancestor’s advice to avoid close range, we sprung our trap upon them. Brook charmed the mammoth and bade it charge them, when the Giant’s awoke unexpectedly. We charged the camp, and attacked the Giants. Within moments, both of the Giants and the Mammoth were dead and we had captured their souls. We took a Mammoth head for a trophy.

Huster fell off one of the Giant’s heads near the end of the Battle, which is still too much to understand for me. I will figure out what happened some day.

On our way back to the Keep, we took a wrong turn and ended up on the road with a group of 13 Skalens. They were all spellcasters and seemed much stronger than when we last met them. We let them walk by, but one of them seemed to know I was there. I sent Huster to follow them, as he seems to have a way to get places quickly and not be seen, even though he apparently won’t fight.

He left to follow them and we went back to the keep. We are waiting for him to return and let us know where they went, but it has been several days. I would send folks out to find him, but I don’t think anyone could. I signaled his return, but I haven’t seen him in days. We have continued on with our plans, but I fear the worst.

I will write again when I have time. I am off to Whiterun again on business.

My Faithful Guard

It occurs to me that this Chronicle is missing an important entry: Who are my most faithful guard, those that serve their king with loyalty and purpose? I will endeavour to explain we well as I can.

Brook is my faithful Bard, the best in the land. So great, in fact, that Sanguine, the Daedric prince himself, has decided that one day Brook will be his chief Bard. I don’t trust the Daedra, but I trust Brook with my life. It is because of his work that I am know far and wide and the message that we are strong and fierce has passed throughout the lands of Skyrim. People tremble at my approach not only because I am a force to behold, but because Brook has sung my praises so that they may prepare themselves for my coming. I am lost without him.

Orthane the Giant Slayer is my right hand, a Fighter of great power. He is a brutal warrior, and has shown time and time again that he cannot be defeated when he weilds that Katana of his. It is my hope that I never have to fight him, for slaying a master as him will sadden my heart. I expect there are those that feel he could defeat my, but no man can defeat Destiny. Perhaps, once I am King, he will challenge me and I will be forced to dispatch him. It is my wish that this great man will continue to serve the Realm with the passion that he has shown thus far. I shall continue to send challenges his way that will keep him off the path for the throne as long as I can to spare him.

Flaminem is my spiritual advisor, a Shaman of the North. He has been able to harness the power of Talos on several occasions to ensure our victory against the Imperials. Without his guidance, we would have lost many battles and my Throne would be much further off. I lean on him heavily. His ways are very strange, such as this business of claiming the hearts of his enemies, as he claims they give him power if he consumes them. He has shown he has that power, so who am I to complain?

Huster the Unclean is a strange one. He is always there when I need him and has shown he can accomplish tasks without guidance. I understand not his ways and I will eventually teach him the discipline that I expect from those who serve me, but his loyalty is without question in my mind. He a fantastic scout, being able to disappear and reappear with some sort of Magic I cannot understand. Although I have never seen a wizard quite like him, I can only assume that is what he is. I can only expect that once he learns his place, my enemies will tremble before me as he shows them his magical might. I only wish he would bathe more often.

I hope this explains my friends and faithful servants well enough. My journals will tell a better tale over time.

Chronicles of Fafnir, the Guildmaster

The guild is not doing well. I spent the last week during my wait for Huster attending to things and training to my new Lt, Jaris. He is not taking well to the job and I may need to kill him. As most of my men are out on business, I cannot afford to end his life. I will give him one more chance to correct his mistakes or he will face me in the arena. We all know how that will end.

Now, due to Jaris’ incompetence, I have a price on my head and the Thieve’s guild was nearly alerted to his attempts to spy on them against my wishes. He is very bad with numbers, as we made no profit over the last week. I have informed him of the situation and he has assured me he will improve. He has better, as his life depends on it.

On the fourth day of Huster’s absence, two strange messengers arrived at the door. A smallish Holy man of Talos and a eerie priestess of Meridia. They were sent with a letter from the skooma den from the Dog I appointed as its master, which gave me pause. When I read that the pig claimed I owed him money, my tempered was barely reigned in. Luckily, I have a King’s blood running through my veins and I can see a plot when it runs before my eyes.

These two? Sent to deliver a message from a skooma den? Not in a hundred years would he truly believe I would pay him. He would expect that I would descend upon him like a Daedric Prince with my wrath in tow. So, this was a trap, for certain.
